How long a cutter lasts is often determined by the collet holding it. Poor quality collets can wear out quickly and often result in broken cutters and sometimes damage to the router itself. We strongly recommend that collets are inspected and cleaned every time a tool is changed. Collets are subject to wear and tear under normal operating conditions and should be renewed on a regular basis. The manufacturer recommendation is every 3-6 months under normal operating conditions.
